Basecamp

Keith and Tim have made it to Everest Base Camp this morning. Hurray! They both said it was the toughest thing they’ve ever done. Keith is absolutely exhausted and will be pleased to be back at a lower altitude so he can get some sleep. Tim will climb Kala Patthar tomorrow, weather permitting. Then it’s a steady climb down to Lukla and a relaxing week in Babu’s Homestay near Kathmandu. So pleased for them both,

Basecamp today?

Keith and Tim are too far up to get any messages back to us but according to Private Expeditions they are scheduled to reach base camp today. They were in good spirits and well when we last heard from them on Friday so we are hopeful that they will reach their destination. Will let you know when we know!

Pherice

Keith here – we are now at 4250m (pherice), climbing to 4550m today and then back to 4250m to acclimatise. Tomorrow we climb 700m to Loboche, and if we get any further, will attempt Everest Base Camp on Sunday afternoon. I am taking every day as it comes though. Tim and I are doing quite well so far (medical stats still good). This takes hell out of the body, but the experience is well worth it. May be out of contact for 4-5 days now. We will do our best to get there we promise. Staying safe and well is our priority of course. Thanks to you all for following us.

Pherice

Hi All,

Tim and I are now at Pherice and doing really well. We lost one young chap today (he went down exhausted), whilst it looks like another. Patrick may have altitude sickness – that would leave 3 of us. Us two old geysers are showing good medical stats (for being 4350m up) and are loving it. Tomorrow is an acclimatisation day before we head a further 700m up to Loboche. It is staggeringly beautiful and the two of us are safe and well.
